To use any of the phone features for SYNC® with MyFord Touch®—such as making a call, receiving a text message, or using SYNC Services—you must first connect, or "pair" your Bluetooth®-enabled phone. Some smartphones use a four-digit Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) and cannot accept the six-digit PIN provided by SYNC. A reverse pairing allows you to pair a phone requiring a four-digit PIN.27,48,129

Before you start
There are a few things you should do before starting step 1:
- Make sure that your phone is compatible with SYNC with MyFord Touch by checking our compatibility chart
- Familiarize yourself with the controls in your vehicle
- Turn on your vehicle and phone
- Your vehicle must be in Park and running, not in Accessory mode

Touch the Phone corner on your 8-inch touchscreen.

SYNC lists the phone that has been paired. To pair another, touch Add a phone.

When SYNC prompts you to verify the six-digit number, or pass-key, shown on the touchscreen, touch Find other devices.

When SYNC has discovered your phone, it will prompt you to Select device to add, and the name of your phone will appear just below the prompt.

Touch the name of your phone.

SYNC will prompt you to enter a pass-key that you will also enter on your phone. Touch four numbers, such as 0000 or 1234, on the numeric keypad on the touchscreen. Then touch Enter to begin pairing your phone.

When your phone displays a similar prompt to enter a four-digit PIN, type the same numbers that you just entered on the touchscreen and press OK or enter.
If your phone asks if you always want to accept this request, choose Yes. -

When you have successfully paired your phone, <your name or the name of your phone> connected successfully displays. Your phone is now paired, and you can download your phonebook and make this phone your favorite.
Quick Tip
Simple reverse pairing
Some smartphones will support a simpler reverse pairing process. If this is the case, both SYNC and your phone will simultaneously display a pass-key. Verify that both numbers match, then touch Pair on your phone and Yes on your SYNC touchscreen to complete the reverse pair.
